Mobil Pegasus™ 610 natural gas engine oil success story

Biogas farm engine oil analysis

The Charoen Pokphand Food PCL (Swine Farm Group) operates over 30 pig manure biogas farms in Thailand. The non-Mobil™ SAE 40 engine oil used on the Caterpillar™ G3406 engines was causing unscheduled downtime, resulting in an inefficient oil change interval of about 500 hours.

Recommendation

The Mobil Lube Engineer analyzed the situation and recommended Mobil Pegasus™ 610 – a natural gas engine oil specifically developed for gas engines operating on biogas. Mobil Serv℠ Lubricant Analysis was performed at regular intervals to monitor oil performance and engine condition.

Result

Mobil Pegasus 610 natural gas engine oil was deployed on a six-month trial at two biogas farms – Kasetsantirat and Raisam. The report from Mobil Serv indicated that the oil was still in good condition even after six months of operation. This reduced the costs of spare parts and labor while minimizing unscheduled downtime, resulting in annual savings of US $52,780.
